Julia Steyn is currently a Non-Executive Board Member of First Group PLC in London, UK, a multi-national transport group that operates transport services in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States. In addition, Julia is a Senior Advisor to McKinsey with a focus on the mobility space and corporate innovation. In addition, Julia serves as an advisor to several venture capital organizations. Julia Steyn was most recently the founder and CEO of Maven, the shared mobility marketplace owned by General Motors. Maven focused on providing members on demand access to shared vehicles for both personal and professional use, as well as allowing users to share peer owned vehicles on the platform. The Maven start-up was founded in 2016 and grew to approximately $100 million in revenues, 250 employees and 20 locations worldwide. Julia has a passion for innovation and transforming established companies to match the needs of an evolving world.
Julia joined General Motors in 2012 as vice president, Corporate Development and Global Mergers & Acquisitions. She managed a diverse portfolio of GM’s global automotive partnerships as well as partnerships outside the industry. She also developed new merger and acquisition opportunities for the company. Before joining GM, Julia was vice president and co-managing director for Alcoa’s Corporate Development group, leading its mergers and acquisitions, competitive scanning and new business target screening activities.
