Lynne Kiesling is a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Purdue University and the Associate Director of the Purdue University Research Center in Economics. She was recently an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Economics at Northwestern University, where she was also Director of the Electricity Policy Program in the Searle Center on Law, Regulation, and Economic Growth.
Her research in transactive energy uses transaction cost economics to examine regulation, market design, and technology in the development of retail markets, products and services and the economics of smart grid technologies in the electricity industry. Liesling’s publications include academic journal articles, policy analyses, and Deregulation, Innovation, and Market Liberalization: Electricity Restructuring in a Constantly Evolving Environment (Routledge, 2008). She is currently serving as Co-Director of the Institute for Regulatory Law & Economics and as a member of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Smart Grid Advisory Committee.
